Notes

  • The scheme document's own link to the traffic signs regulations points at the 2002 instrument. The current instrument is the 2016 one, and that is what the bank refers to.
  • ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. Certification bodies assess 12D against the 2015 edition until the scheme's advisory committee revises the document. The bank's markers for points the 2026 edition strengthens are provisional until the published text has been checked.
  • ISO 9000:2015, which the scheme document relies on for vocabulary, is listed by ISO as withdrawn in May 2026. The scheme document has not yet been revised to reflect that.
  • The Red Book is not cited in Issue 5 of the scheme document. It is listed here because it is the statutory code for the roads 12D covers and is taught on the M7 course.
  • Where the edition column says "current revision" or "current edition", the publisher's site is the only authoritative statement of the version in force and we have not recorded a number.

How this page is kept current

Each month we check Lantra's Schedule of Suppliers and NHSS news pages, the ISO/TC 176 news page, the gov.uk Traffic Signs Manual and Red Book pages, the Highways Safety Hub index, legislation.gov.uk for the traffic signs regulations, and the National Highways sector scheme page, and we update the last-checked dates here. Each quarter we re-check the editions in the question bank's reference list and in the registers workbook. When the published question bank is loaded this table is built from its reference list, so the dates you see are the ones the bank carries. The first check was on 5 September 2026.
